Terms of sale and use

These terms govern the purchase and use of Acento courses. They are written to be understood; if anything is unclear, write to us before buying.

2. What you are buying

Acento sells online Spanish courses organised by CEFR sub-level. Each course includes written explanations, video, self-correcting exercises and speaking practice.

A course does not include one-to-one tuition, personal correction by a teacher, or official certification. Courses prepare you for the level they state; they do not certify that you have reached it.

Conversation classes with a teacher (speaking) are bought separately, one class at a time, and can only be booked by someone enrolled in a course of that level. Their specific terms are in section 7.3.

3. Your account

An account is required in order to buy. It is personal and non-transferable, and credentials may not be lent, sold or shared.

If an account is used in a way that is incompatible with personal use, we will write to you first and you can explain. Only if it continues will access be suspended, always with a route to appeal and always with a human decision, never an automatic one.

4. Price, payment and tax

Prices are shown on each course page and include VAT at the rate of the buyer's country of residence within the EU.

Payment is processed by Stripe. We never store your card details. An invoice is issued for every purchase.

Payment is one-off. There is no subscription, no automatic renewal and nothing to cancel later.

5. How long access to a course lasts

Each course you buy gives you access for one calendar year from the date of payment, like a school year. Within that year access is complete and unconditional: it is not withdrawn because you stop studying for a while, because you take your time to finish, or because of later changes to the catalogue or to prices, and updates to the course are included.

When the year is up, access to that course closes. We email you thirty days beforehand and again in the final days, so that you can finish what is left or renew if you want to carry on. Renewing means enrolling on the same course again, at the price in force at that time.

Your progress, your pronunciation recordings and your history are not deleted when access expires: if you renew later, you pick up where you left off. Having completed a course does not expire for level purposes either, so you can enrol on the next course even if the previous one has run out.

The honest limit of all this: access is tied to the service existing. If Acento ceased operating we would give reasonable notice — at least thirty days — and make the materials of purchased courses available in a downloadable format so that you do not lose what you paid for.

6. Right of withdrawal and express waiver

As an EU consumer you have fourteen calendar days to withdraw from the purchase without giving reasons.

This product, however, is digital content supplied immediately. Before payment we ask you to tick a box giving express prior consent to performance beginning at once, and acknowledging that you lose the right of withdrawal once the content has been fully supplied. This follows Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU.

We store the exact text you accepted, the date and the version of these terms, and you may request a copy at any time. If you would rather keep the full fourteen days and give up instant access instead, write to us before buying and we will arrange it.

This waiver does not affect the legal guarantee of conformity: if the content does not work or is not as described, you remain entitled to have it brought into conformity, and failing that to a price reduction or to terminate the contract.

7. Refunds, course changes and speaking classes

How to ask. Write to infoacentoacademia@gmail.com from the e-mail address of your account. Include your name, the course or class concerned, the date of purchase and the reason. If it is a technical problem, add a screenshot: it saves several questions.

When we refund. We refund the full amount, by the same payment method, in these cases:

  • A duplicate charge or a charge made in error.
  • A course or class that does not work or does not match its description, where we cannot fix it within a reasonable time. This is the legal guarantee of conformity in section 6, which the waiver of withdrawal does not affect.
  • A speaking class that does not take place for reasons on our side and for which we cannot offer another teacher at the same time.
  • A later change that substantially worsens what you bought, as explained in section 12.
  • Any other case in which the law gives you the right to withdraw from or terminate the contract.

7.1 When there is no refund

Once you have accepted immediate access to a course, or once a class has been given, there is no refund for lack of time, a change of plans or loss of interest.

7.2 Changing course

If you bought the wrong course, you can ask us to swap it for another within seven calendar days of purchase, provided you have not completed more than one lesson of the course.

The swap is to a course of the same price or cheaper, and the difference is not refunded.

7.3 Speaking classes

When you book a class you expressly ask for it to be given on the date and at the time you choose, and you acknowledge that once it has been given you lose your fourteen-day right of withdrawal.

The amount is held on your card and is only charged when the teacher confirms the class. If the teacher declines or does not reply in time, the hold is released and you pay nothing.

You can move a confirmed class to another free slot at your level, with any teacher, up to eight hours before it starts. The new slot must also start at least eight hours later. You can move it as many times as you like within that window.

Less than eight hours before the start, the class can no longer be moved or cancelled. If you do not attend, the amount is lost.

A teacher cannot cancel a confirmed class. If something prevents them from giving it, the academy assigns another teacher at the same time and lets you know by e-mail. If that is not possible, we refund the full amount.

8. Licence

Buying a course grants a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence limited to private use for your own learning. You are not buying the material: you are buying the right to use it.

Teaching or professional use is outside this licence. Using these materials to teach, in a language school, in a company or in a classroom requires a different licence. Write to us — it is not a problem.

9. What is not allowed

  • Downloading, copying or reproducing the content by means other than those the platform itself provides.
  • Circumventing, disabling or attempting to bypass the technical protection measures on the videos or the content. Beyond breaching these terms, this is a separate infringement under EU copyright law.
  • Automated extraction of content by robots, spiders, scrapers or equivalent techniques.
  • Redistributing, reselling, publishing or making the materials available to third parties, in whole or in part.
  • Transferring, selling or sharing access credentials.
  • Removing or altering authorship notices, marks or identifiers embedded in the materials.

10. Reservation of rights against text and data mining and AI

The rightholder expressly reserves the rights of reproduction and extraction for text and data mining over the whole of this site and its content, pursuant to Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790.

Accordingly, use of this content to train, fine-tune or evaluate artificial intelligence models, or to build datasets for that purpose, is prohibited without prior written permission.

This reservation is also declared in machine-readable form in the domain's robots.txt file, as the Directive requires for it to be effective.

11. Intellectual property

The texts, scripts, tables, exercises, videos, recorded voice, design and code of this site are the author's work and are protected by copyright, which arises on creation and depends on no registration.

The grammar of Spanish belongs to nobody; its particular selection, ordering, wording and exemplification in these courses does.

12. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service continuously available but cannot guarantee the complete absence of interruptions caused by maintenance or supplier failures.

Purchased courses may be extended or corrected; improvements are included at no cost. If a change substantially worsened what you bought, we would tell you and you could terminate.

We may change these terms for the future. Changes do not apply retroactively to purchases already made: your purchase is governed by the version you accepted, and we keep it.

13. Complaints, governing law and jurisdiction

Write to infoacentoacademia@gmail.com first: most problems are solved in a couple of messages.

The contract is governed by Spanish law, without depriving the consumer of the protection afforded by the mandatory rules of their country of habitual residence within the EU.

As a consumer you may bring proceedings before the courts of your own domicile. Accepting these terms does not waive that right, and no clause here attempts to.

14. Version

Version 2026-09-23.1, dated 2026-09-23. All previous versions are kept and we can provide the one you accepted.
